The new welfare state

So how messed up is this little food stamp image. It was thought up by some republican genius, probably the same person who thought up the Obama pancakes--looking a bit aunt Jemima-ish. Anyway I would like to stay that this representation is inaccurate at the moment since people no longer get food stamps, we've moved into the age of technological innovations so now there are EBT cards that they put the food stamps on. I miss the days when you would have the book of food stamps and your mom would send you to the store. In retrospect what was a source of humiliation really didn't matter b/c the boy laughing at you just spent his mom's last food stamp on penny candy. If my memory is any good, the brown food stamps were 1 dollar, the blue was 5 dollars, green 10 dollars. I can't remember any more.
My final comment about the Obama buck is, at least was red and not purple kool-aid. Keep it real you it's the color and not the flavor that's important.

harold and kumar

So I'm kind of late talking about this but in august i met kal penn, star of harold and kumar, one of the best smoker movies after half baked and the classic, cheech and chong.

I was at an obama fundraiser at Church Brew Works, thus the crappy phone pic. He was totally cool and sniffed me during the whole picture taking process (my cousin couldn't figure out how to take a picture). I was relieved that I had taken a shower that day. I smelled like beer and flowers.

kal penn was also in one episode of one of my favorite shows "angel" and in the totally awful superman movie.

Church Brew Works has great beer and the pierogies are not to be missed.

I spent the rest of the evening drinking in celebration of Harold and Kumar

inbreeding and politics

" Deliverance" is my new favorite movie. I watched it for the first time yesterday and the banjo playing inbred boy is scary. I think I want to school with someone related to him (Sorry Joe). I remember there was some Appalachian organization that was all upset because there was a casting call for a Hollywood film where they were looking for people who looked inbred to play the part of mountain people. It was awesome, the news station interviewed this woman in a bar with like 3 teeth who claimed that the stereotypes weren't true.
I'm not going to argue. I'll just say that one time I was in a parking lot in West VA and there was a woman with three kids, drinking a beer and cussing them out. You can draw your own conclusions.
I think that these presidential and vice-presidential debates have been awesome. Not for the depth of genius anyone has shown but for what it reveals about the American political process. I think that this has been an exercise in pageantry and I'd rather vote based on the SNL skits. If that were the case Tina Fey would win.

Also how awesome is my ten year old daughter with her Obama poster and party hat...it's kind of scary.
